Speightstown is located on the north west coast of Barbados and is the island's second largest town centre. Dating from 1630, Speightstown was the island's busiest seaport and gained the nickname Little Bristol due to its close trading links with the English port of Bristol. Speightstown is a charming town with many colonial style buildings which are now home to many bars and restaurants, as well as numerous shops serving the locals and the tourist trade.
The harbour area of Speightstown is busy and bustling and a perfect place to buy fresh fish and other sea foods. There are a great number of places to eat in Speightstown, serving a variety of dishes from around the world as well as the local Bajan Cuisine. Speightstown is also home to the new marina of Port St. Charles which is overlooked by a number of holiday villas for rent.
